ROLE: Rule of Law Education
The Rule of Law Education (ROLE) Programme in February 2025!
This year’s ROLE Programme was held in March 2025 at the International School of Amsterdam (ISA). The programme brings together passionate law students from across Europe to serve as tutors, leading interactive and thought-provoking lessons designed to foster critical thinking and legal awareness among students aged 15 to 18.

ABOUT ROLE
The Rule of Law Education (ROLE) Programme is a legal education initiative within the ELSA Network, launched in 2022 in the Netherlands. Since its inception, ROLE has provided a unique platform for law students to engage with high school students on key principles of the Rule of Law. In 2025, we are proud to continue this important mission with a new edition of the programme.

ROLE 2025
Participating in the ROLE Programme last February as a trainer at the International School of Amsterdam was a deeply rewarding experience. It was my greatest pleasure to observe how my facilitation of the Public International Law curriculum was awakening the curiosity and enthusiasm within some high school students to learn about its structures and issues. I even had one girl saying that this program has assured her of considering the legal professional pathway for her future.
This experience was transformative on my part as well – it inspired me to join the Academic Activities team at ELSA the Netherlands this year with a focus on ROLE, where I now dedicate my efforts to fostering the same enthusiasm in others. Not only did I get a chance to apply the knowledge of law to practice but I also developed my skills in public speaking, facilitation and communication.
So it is a fair exchange: what you give is returned tenfold in personal growth and the positive impact you create. I encourage everyone to join this remarkable initiative and allow yourselves to feel the satisfaction of making a meaningful contribution to society by inspiring the next generation to value justice and the rule of law!
