ABOUT ELSA
A just world in which there is respect for human dignity and cultural diversity.
ELSA (The European Law Students’ Association) is an international, independent, non-political and non-profit association run by and for law students and young lawyers who are interested in academic and personal development beyond their
studies. ELSA offers them the opportunity to develop their existing skills, acquire new ones and meet fellow students and legal professionals across Europe.
ELSA was founded on 4 May 1981 in Vienna by students from Poland, Austria, Hungary and West Germany. The aim of the association was to foster international relations between students behind the “Iron Curtain”. Today, ELSA is the world’s
largest independent association of law students, with over 60,000 members represented at more than 432 law schools in 43 countries, from Ireland to Azerbaijan and from Finland to Malta.
About ELSA the Netherlands
Since 1984, ELSA the Netherlands has been striving to inspire and aid young students in their path towards a legal career. ELSA the Netherlands has eight local groups: Groningen, Leiden, Maastricht, Nijmegen, Rotterdam, Utrecht and Tilburg,
and represents a vibrant community of law students and young lawyers in the Dutch capital.
We aim to expand the legal knowledge of our members by providing a variety of activities, such as academic competitions, seminars, conferences, and international exchange programs. We prioritize networking and create unique opportunities
for members to connect with professionals in the legal field.
