NMCC Participant Testimonials
Let’s get inspired.
Participating in the NMCC was one of the most formative experiences of my academic career thus far. It was one of the first moots I did, and it introduced me to the whole world of mooting. The competition is a rare opportunity to dive into the field of competition law, and develop not just speaking skills, but legal research, memo writing, and teamwork skills. The national finals at De Brauw were a great opportunity to learn from professionals in the field, network, and engage in enriching conversation. The judges demonstrated sincere interest in our academic and professional growth, it was truly inspiring. Whether you have experience or are brand new to mooting, I would strongly encourage anyone to sign up and take it as an opportunity to grow!

The NMCC is an amazing mooting opportunity for everyone passionate about European and Competition Law. Personally, I had an unforgettable experience participating at NMCC in 2024/2025. After competing in the Local and the National Rounds, my team won the Final Round of the Competition. The NMCC allowed me to enhance my mooting skills, meet the Dutch ELSA community and create networks with lawyers at De Brauw Blackstone Westbroek.
I highly encourage law students across the Netherlands to participate in the NMCC.The NMCC is an incredible opportunity to practice public speaking skills, legal drafting skills and get an insight into European and Competition Law.

I enjoyed the 2024/2025 NMCC, organized by ELSA the Netherlands, thoroughly, on both the local (Tilburg) level and the national level. As a first-year Bachelor student, prior to signing up for the local round and even before attending each of the rounds, it seemed daunting to plead legal arguments in an area of law that I wasn’t too familiar with, since the theme was EU Competition Law, mostly taught only at the Master’s level studies at my university (Tilburg University). Regardless, the experience was exciting and meaningful because, as someone who likes participating in moot court competitions, I could learn a lot from the case and pleadings, professors, judges, and my peers, not only as teammates but also as students on other teams. I gained legal knowledge, developed presentation and oratory skills, and had the chance to network with other students and legal professionals at De Brauw Blackstone Westbroek.
