AMSTERDAM REGIONAL ROUND

WTO dispute settlement system

The teams prepare and analyse a fictive case and present their arguments both for the Complainant and the Respondent in front of a Panel which consists of WTO and trade law experts.

Participants have the opportunity to make contacts with people from all around the world. The competition is global and participants usually come from more than 35 different countries each year.

Complex overlap between domestic regulations of video streaming platforms and anti-competitive practices in the digital economy, alongside international trade obligations.

legal areas

It aligns closely to competition law, regulations and economic sanctions. Given the increasing frequency of cross-border transactions, regulatory restrictions and enforcement matters, this event presents a valuable opportunity to delve deeper into the evolving landscape of digital trade regulations.

The competition is structured in three phases: Written Submissions, Regional Rounds, and the Final Oral Round, taking place annually at the WTO Headquarters in Geneva, Switzerland.

ELSA the Netherlands is honoured to host one of the two European Regional Rounds from 29 April until 2 May 2025.

We anticipate welcoming 9 teams and their coaches, along with approximately ~15 distinguished panellists, totalling 70 people from across Europe who will attend our Regional Round.
